The case for personalised skincare

A smarter way to shop for skincare (and actually see results).

Hi friends!

It’s been a massive couple of weeks and I’ve gotta’ admit, I’m running on very little sleep and a whole lotta’ stress and excitement. I have lots of big feelings about big life events, it’s been about four billion degrees in South Australia and I'm currently starring in a thrilling double feature: ‘9-to-5’ and ‘After-hours empire’. Thankfully the weather has cooled, so me and my big feelings aren’t schvitzing.

In very happy news, Tenille Skincare is officially stocking products! I’m so bloody happy to share that I’ve had my first orders for personalised skincare packs. It’s absolutely brilliant.

It feels amazing (better than amazing!) to actually hold the custom skincare kits in my hands. I stand in my kitchen hugging them every time. It’s the best feeling! I choose to believe everyone can feel the love when they open their kit, because wouldn’t that just be delightful?

Let’s talk more about personalised skincare…

What’s personalised skincare?

Personalised skincare is skincare that’s all about you. It’s a routine tailored to your unique skin type, concerns and goals (because no two faces are the same).

It considers your skin goals, sensitivities, environment and even your budget. The result? A routine that fits you perfectly, so you’re not wasting time (or money) on products that aren’t a match. It’s your skin, but better!

At Tenille Skincare, you get a personalised skincare program tailored to your individual skin needs, concerns and goals, as well as your budget, lifestyle and level of experience with skincare. Every product is lovingly selected (by me) based on market research (including user feedback and reviews, dermatologist recommendations and independent research tools), clinical study results, developer claims, industry knowledge and my consumer experience. I recommend affordable, effective, everyday products from brands Aussies know and trust. Handy, right? Let’s get started!

The good stuff

No more guesswork

Say ta-ta to wasting money on products that might work. Personalised skincare takes the trial-and-error out of the equation, so you're using skincare products that actually suit your skin. Not your bestie’s skin, or that influencer from MomTok’s skin.

See better results faster

When your skincare is chosen specifically for your needs and concerns, you’ll see improvements faster. No more waiting months to realise something isn’t working. It sounds too good to be true, but I promise it’s not.

You’ll save time and money

Instead of impulse buying serums at 1am because TikTok told you to, you’re investing in products that actually serve your skin. Fewer mistakes, more glow. Easy peasy.

(Raise your hand if you’ve been personally victimised by impulse buying.)

Works with your lifestyle

Whether you're a skinimalist looking for a three-step routine or a self-care champ who loves a 10-step ritual, personalised skincare adapts to your vibe.

Addresses your unique skin needs

Skin is personal! There’s no one-size-fits-all. Generic recommendations don’t always account for sensitivities, climate or lifestyle. Personalised skincare puts your skin’s needs first.

The prickly bits (and some workarounds)

Can be pricey

Whether it's a consultation, a personalised skincare program or custom-formulated products, personalisation can cost more upfront (but often saves you money in the long run).

Solution: You don’t have to spend big to get personalised skincare. Some brands (like Tenille Skincare, hi!) offer expert recommendations that fit your budget.

Investing in an individualised routine once saves you from spending hard earned dollar dollar bills in the search for something that works.

Skin changes over time

Personalised skincare isn’t one-and-done! Stress, hormones, seasonal changes and nutrition (like eating too many emotional support icy poles – me, I’m talking about me) can all throw your skin off balance.

Solution: Check in with your skin regularly. Having a skincare bestie (hello!) to help tweak your routine is the secret sauce.

Beware of “personalised” gimmicks

Not all personalised skincare is actually personalised. Some brands slap “custom” on products when really, they're just suggesting their bestsellers.

Solution: Do a little digging! If a brand's "custom" routine is just their most popular products in a cute box, it's not really personalised. If you haven’t had a skin analysis do not add to cart.

Look for experts who actually assess your skin and make recommendations based on you not just whatever’s trending. (For the love of skin, read that again!)

Too many options can be overwhelming

With so many ways to get personalised skincare (quizzes, AI tools, estheticians, dermatologists), it can feel like a lot.

Solution: Keep it simple. If you’re unsure where to start, opt for a one-on-one consultation or a trusted skincare quiz with real expert input. There’s just no need to DIY your way through an endless sea of serums.

Bottom line? Personalised skincare is worth it when done right. A little guidance (and the right expert in your corner) makes all the difference!

But where do I start?

There are a few ways to get your hands on personalised skincare, depending on how much time, effort and money you want to invest.

Professional consultations

A dermatologist, skin specialist or esthetician can assess your skin and make expert recommendations based on your skin type, concerns and goals. Perfect if you want a just-for-you routine without the trial and error.

Tenille Skincare consultation fees range from $39.99 - $59.99. Book a consultation.

Personalised skincare programs

Some services (it’s me again, hi!) handpick products, build your routine and provide ongoing support and advice. No more staring at shelves wondering what to buy. Hooray!

AI-powered tools and quizzes

Online skin analysis tools and smart quizzes can help narrow down products based on your skin type and concerns. Just make sure the recommendations aren’t just pushing trendy products.

Custom-formulated skincare

If you’re major (in the best way), some brands offer bespoke serums and creams mixed based on skin tests or DNA analysis. Very fancy, very (very) expensive.

Trial and error (the hard way)

You can read labels, research ingredients and test different products until you find what works. Not exactly personalised, but if you love research and product testing this may be option for you!

At the end of the day, your skin is as gorgeous and unique as you are and your skincare should be too. Whether you go all-in with a personalised program or just want a few expert picks, the right advice makes all the difference.
